Introduction
On February 24, 2022, I watched the first footage of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, paralysed by fear, anger and hopelessness.
Shortly afterwards, I learned that the community of Ukrainian Australians in Canberra and Queanbeyan was holding frequent rallies in front of the Russian Embassy to protest the war. The group includes local Ukrainians, refugees and Australians from diverse backgrounds who have joined them in solidarity, including politicians from across Australia’s major political parties. They have continued protesting ever since.
This book documents their rallies.
